This widely known event draws people from both locally and all along the coast. This particular event is a fundraiser for the Fishermen’s Relief Fund and Fishermen’s Family Relief Fund. Last year alone, the funds that were paid to the families of the boats that went down exceeded $10,000. Often in times of tragedy, Newport Fisherman’s Wives are the first responders to such fishing disasters which deeply affect our community. This is an opportunity to share in the festivities of this commercial fishing community while helping replenish the funds to keep the Newport Fishermen’s Wives among the first to offer financial relief to the fishing families during these crisis.
10am - 3pm at Port Dock 5 and throughout the bayfront
During this time, there will be Dock Walks with the opportunity to learn about commercial fishermen by visiting their boats. Fresh Seafood will also be available to purchase directly from the docks as well as from the boardwalk. An Education booth will be on display by both NOAA and USGS. Bay Cruises will be available for the day of the event. There will be several Boardwalk Vendors, all highlighting the coastal life. There will be Raffles and Prize Giveaways with participating vendors that are included in the fun "Passport" Adventures. Passport is a well known & loved event that connects the guests and bayfront business owners. They get a passport and fill them with participating business stamps, then collect prizes and are included in a raffle. Participating business also decorate their "foot prints" and are judged by the passport holders! It really is a great day of family fun!
5pm - 8pm, Soirèe at the Pacific Maritime & Heritage Center
In the evening, we will be hosting a Soirèe that will start off with drinks by Rougue Brewery while enjoying an appetizer competition between local chefs. Then sit down to fine dining and delectable desserts catered by La Maison. The evening will be filled with live entertainment and will include prizes and raffles in the beautifully renovated Pacific Maritime & Heritage Center. A shuttle will be provided so that our guests will not have to walk up the hill to the mansion.
The evening event, the soirèe, is currently sold out but will open up if additional seats become available. However, the day's festivities on the boardwalk FREE and is wide open to the public. We hope to see you there!
