Survival Suit Races 2006
This year, we had a wonderful turn-out of teams who where more than willing to compete for bragging rights by donning their suits and jumping into the cold bay.  Newport Fishermen's Wives was thankful to collect hundreds of dollars in cash and prizes from dozens of local business's and individuals who jumped at the opportunity to support this blessed event.

We had a total of 7 teams compete for best individual time and best team time.  The teams were:

USCG Station Yaquina Bay; Frederick Roundy, Brandon Darce and Tim Costa
Newport Loyalty Day's Court; Yuanbo Liu, Annie Hayward and Maggie Conrad
F/V Kylie Lynn; Jesus Cortez, Steve Jones and Justin Wimpress
Newport Fishermen's Wives; Tia Retherford, Jordan Kennedy and Jen Wimpress
NOAA Fisheries; Erica Fruh, Cristen Don and Keri York

Kelly Retherford stepped in and anounced the racers this year just like she'd done for many years prior.  Kelly and her husband Mike own the F/V Excalibur that her two sons race for.
Here is the crew from the USCG Station Yaquina Bay. They volunteer every year to escort our racers from the liferaft anchored approx 50 feet out, back to the dock.
Best Individual Time:
